Ciprofloxacin (Antibuck)

Ciprofloxacin. (Antibac).
Broad spectrum antimicrobial agent, fluoroquinolone derivative. Suppresses bacterial growth and division; causes pronounced morphological changes and rapid bacterial cell death. It acts bactericidally on gram-negative organisms and on gram-positive microorganisms.
Against the background of the use of ciprofloxacin, there is no parallel production of resistance to other antibiotics, which makes it highly effective against bacteria that are resistant, for example, to aminoglycosides, penicillins, cephalosporins, tetracyclines and many other antibiotics. Fish pathogens such as gram-negative aerobic bacteria are sensitive to ciprofloxacin: Vibrio spp., Aeromonas spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, some intracellular pathogens - Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium kansasii.
Resistant to the drug: Pseudomonas cepacia, Pseudomonas maltophilia, Nocardia asteroides. From the above, it can be understood that ciprofloxacin can treat internal bacterial diseases of fish, such as aeromonosis, vodka, mycobacteriosis, as well as external bacterial lesions (fin rot, etc.)
But, the whole problem is that ciprofloxacin is not a water-soluble drug, which means that it is introduced into the aquarium in tableted form or in the form of a powder, is practically meaningless. The suspension will settle to the bottom, and will not cause any harm to the causative agent of the disease.
On the other hand, ciprofloxacin is exactly the antibiotic that is able to penetrate the tissue through the gills of fish (which, for example, can not be widely used bicillin 5)..
So how to be?
There is a way out. In the pharmaceutical production of the aquarist there is a drug, the main component of which is ciprofloxacin. The drug is called "Antibac." This is an antibacterial preparation for fish, containing ciprofloxacin as an active ingredient, as well as auxiliary components. Ciprofloxacin, which is part of the preparation Antibac, has a bactericidal effect against the pathogens of bacterial diseases of fish, including aeromonade, pseudomonade, mycobacteria, streptococci, vibrions, mixobacteria, corinobacteria, cytobacteria, yersinium and enterobacteria.
Antibac is used in fish with a therapeutic and prophylactic purpose in aeromonosis, pseudomonosis, bacterial branchionecrosis, flexibacteriosis, corinobacteriosis, fin rot, cytrobacteriosis, furunculose, vibriosis, mycobacteriosis, streptococcosis, as well as in diseases complicated by bacterial. Antibac 100 is prescribed to fish inside with feed, Antibac 250 and 2500 - externally in the form of solutions (baths). Antibac 100 is prescribed to fish with fodder in dose 0.5-1.0 g per 1 kg of fish weight once a day for 3-5 days. Preparation in dose calculated for total weight of fish to be treated is mixed with daily portion of feed and fed at water temperature higher than 12 ° C. Antibac 250 and Antibac 2500 are used for preparation of therapeutic solutions (baths).
To this end, the tablets of the preparation are ground, dissolved in a small amount of fresh water and added to the containers in which the fish are located. In a therapeutic solution, fish are kept until recovery: daily for 3-8 hours for 3-8 days (short-term baths) or for 5-8 days without interruption (long-term baths).
Fresh solution of preparation is prepared and used daily. For the preparation of short-term baths, the dose of Antibac 250 is 1 tablet per 10-20 liters (Antibac 2500-1 tablet per 100-200 liters); for the preparation of long-term baths - 1 tablet Antibaca 250 per 100-200 l (Antibaca 2500-1 tablet per 1000-2000 l) water. Short-term baths are carried out in tanks free of plants and soil, equipped with an aeration system, long-term baths - directly in aquariums. During the treatment period, lighting devices and filters are not used, water is aerated, feeding of fish is carried out in the usual mode. After completion of the course of treatment, fish-breeding equipment is disinfected.
